Musically Themed Liebig Cards – Part V

May 2024

We have pleasure in presenting our fifth series of Liebig cards, all opera cards published in the French language.  Our first two displays in March and April 2021 were accompanied by a full description of Liebig cards by Jennie Bisset to whom we are indebted.  The third and fourth displays were in November 2021 and March 2022 respectively.

Carmen. Opéra comique in four acts by Georges Bizet. First performed 3 March 1875 at  Opéra-Comique (Salle Favart), Paris.

Don Juan. Opera buffa in two acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. First performed 29 October 1787 at the National Theatre, Prague.

Mignon. Opéra comique in three acts by Ambroise Thomas. First performed 17 November 1866 at Opéra-Comique (Salle Favart), Paris.

Parsifal. Bühnenweihfestspiel in three acts by Richard Wagner. First performed 26 July 1882 at the Bayreuth Festspielhaus.

Robert le diable. Grand opéra in five acts by Giacomo Meyerbeer. First performed 21 November 1831 at the Paris Opéra.  This opera featured as our December 2012 Exhibition of the Month.
