First performed in London at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, 25 June 1913 (Sir Joseph Beecham’s Grand Season of Russian Opera and Ballet, organised by M. Serge de Diaghilew). The season also included first British performances of Boris Godunov, Khovanshchina and Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Maid of Pskov, all starring Chaliapin.

First performed in London at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, 11 July 1913 (Sir Joseph Beecham’s Grand Season [as above]). The first dance rehearsals for the work had taken place at London’s Aldwych Theatre in February 1913, during a Beecham season at Covent Garden which included the first London performances of Der Rosenkavalier, Petrushka and Nijinsky’s first ballet L’Après-midi d’un faune. The three performances in Paris and the three in London were all that Nijinsky’s Sacre du Printemps received until its attempted reconstruction in 1987.
